Candlelight Vigil, Lighting of Easter Fire and Eucharist in the Garden

  • St Anne's Anglican Church 26 Highfields Road Highfields, Queensland 4352 (map)

As we await the dawn of Easter Day, we recall the history of salvation, God’s saving work in the world and in our lives. At dawn we light the Easter Fire, celebrating the resurrected Jesus and the eternal light of Christ, and continue with a celebration of the eucharistic meal of bread and wine.

We begin in semi-darkness, with chants and scripture readings, lighting the Easter Fire as dawn breaks around 6 am.  We will then move into the church to conclude our Holy Communion Service.

This service will begin in the Reflection Garden behind the church (there will be a wet weather option).

After the service we’ll share a simple fellowship breakfast of fruit and toast, in the church hall.

IMPORTANT: This service begins in darkness and it will be cold. Please bring your own torch or headlamp so that you can read, and dress warmly and/or bring a blanket.

RSVP, 5.30 am only, for catering purposes by 24 March: office@stjames.org.au
